Iaclals -- the Indian
Association for Commonwealth Literature and
Language Studes -- is the officially recognised
Indian chapter of the international ACLALS (Association for
Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies).
Iaclals started in India in 1974.

The objectives of
Iaclals are to promote and coordinate Commonwealth
Literature Studies in India, organize seminars and
workshops, arrange lectures by writers and scholars
including those visiting India, publish a
newsletter about activities in the field of
Commonwealth Literature in India and in other parts
of the world, and hold one annual
conference.

The international
ACLALS was started in 1964 with a conference in the
University of Leeds.
